Privacy Policy

Sidecar is operated by Sebastien Mock, sole trader, Australia ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Sidecar app and the sidecar.vip website collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address, used to sign you in with one-time codes. There are no passwords.
- Profile: the display name and color you choose.
- Content you create: events, birthdays, work shifts, shopping items, to-do lists and their details (titles, dates, times, descriptions, locations).
- Attachments: photos and files you choose to attach to events.
- Location lookups: when you search for an event location, your search text is sent to Google Places to provide address suggestions. We store only the address you pick; we never track your device's location.
- Notifications: reminders are scheduled on your device. If you enable notifications, the operating system may issue a push token.
- Household membership: which household you belong to and invitations sent to or by you (email addresses of invitees).
This website is static and sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and makes no third-party requests. If you switch the website's language, your preference is stored only on your device.
How we use it
Solely to provide Sidecar: signing you in, syncing your content between your devices and your household members' devices, sending invitation emails, and showing reminders. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see your content
Content is shared only within your household, according to the app's sharing rules: events marked private are visible only to you, enforced at the database level. Birthdays and lists are shared only as you choose. When you leave a household, your personal content moves with you.
Where your data is stored
Data is stored with Supabase (hosted PostgreSQL database, authentication and file storage). Transactional emails (sign-in codes and invitations) are delivered via Resend. Location autocomplete is provided by Google Places. Each provider processes only what is needed for its function.
Retention and deletion
Your content is kept while your account exists so your history stays available. Attached photos and files older than the app's rolling event window are cleaned up automatically. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account); this permanently removes your account and personal data from our systems.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you have a privacy concern, contact us and we will respond promptly; you may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Children
Sidecar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will note it in the app and update the date above.
